Handshake, has been at the forefront for many students looking for placements, and graduate roles. I have been working on my handshake profile, as-well as actively messaging & networking with employers & possible placement opportunities.
On my Handshake profile, I wanted to ensure I am transparent with my LinkedIn Profile, so I have incorporated many key ideas that are included in my LinkedIn Profile to my Handshake profile, in order to show my true self, and allow employers, see my profile, and receive direct messages from them.
I have focused on similar skills to my LinkedIn profile, and have incorporated different Industries, Interests, Roles within Handshake, to see what type of Jobs are available, for myself, upon graduation.
Within the 8 week timeframe of the Talent Hub, I decided to focus on employee engagement, by outreaching to a number of employers, who interest me, via the direct messaging application, placed within the handshake platform.
I received messages from numerous employers, however these employers stood out:
Sky UK
British Telecoms
Queens University Belfast
South West College, Dungannon
UK Gov Civil Service
From receiving these messages, I have understood that my profile if of a great standard, in order to catch their attention. Some comments regarding my profile I recieved:
"You are an ideal candidate for our upcoming Job Opening, and would invite you to apply using this early application form"
We understand we may not currently offer placement opportunities, although please feel free to connect with us via LinkedIn to keep up to date with future career aspirations"
